Since the beginning of summer, Addy had not visited the beach. She knew there would be crowds of people and she just wanted to avoid it. Unfortunately, her mother had a different thought in mind and forced her to go and be with people her age. To her mom, Riley wasn’t enough contact for her, she needed more friends, “meet some more people, maybe a nice boy.” Those were her mother’s exact words. If only she wasn’t as awkward and easy to embarrass, maybe then she would think that she could actually make friends and keep them.
Sighing, Addison sat on her beach towel in the sun in a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. She had her bikini underneath, but really didn't want to show it off with all the people around. Sighing again, she watched everyone laughing and splashing around in the water and she wished that she wasn't as self conscious as she was. Many of the girls her age were strutting around in super slutty bikinis while the guys splashed and dunked them in the water. There was a lot of tummy touching and hand holding and kissing, none of which Addy had experienced in her seventeen years.
While wondering what it would be like to have a boyfriend, or just friends in general, she noticed that her sunlight was gone and a shadow in the shape of a person was cast in front of her. Twisting around on her towel, she looked to see who it was.

Nate woke up lazily to his alarm clock going off after coming home at five in the morning, he had ended up going to a local club after he had been to the cinema to watch a film, he had stayed out longer than he had planned to, since he had only planned on going to the cinema and then he was planning on going home. He turned to his clock and saw that it was eight. "Why did I set my alarm clock to that" Nate thought to himself but then he turned to look at his door after he heard a knock, "Yeah I am awake, come on in" Nate said as the door opened to show that it was his brother Nathan "What do you want at this time of the morning" Nate said slightly annoyed since he has only had three hours sleep. 'You promised you would come with me to the beach' his brother said. Nate let out a sigh, "Oh yeah, just let me get changed" Nate said.
About half an hour later Nate had gotten changed into a pair of blue three quarter shorts, an orange top and a pair of sandals. He also had a back pack on his back. he walked up to the local Beach Shack "Can I hire a surf board please" Nate said. The beach shack clerk handed Nate the board and said to have fine. Nate walked onto the beach and handed the surf board to Nathan "I swear mum will flip if she found out about this" Nate said. Nathan said that is why he won't tell her and neither will Nate. Nate took Nathan's top and sandals, he walked away to look for an empty spot so that he would be able to watch his brother surfing. He found an empty spot by a female so he walked over to her hoping she wouldn't mind him waiting next to her for a while. Not long after the female turned over onto her back to look at him "Excuse me miss I was wondering if you wouldn't mind me waiting by you for a while, you see I saw you by here by your thought and I was wondering why an attractive female like yourself doing here by herself" Nate said flirting with her slightly.

Addy's eyes were met with the sight of a guy. He looked to be a few years older than herself. "Um, no, not at all." Addy said. It was a beach, anyone could sit anywhere they wanted to. Twisting back around on her towel to face the lake, Addison continued to people watch. Just because there was a guy sitting next to her didn't mean that she had to talk to him. Addy wasn't really the type of person to start a conversation with a stranger. In the past she had tried to, but the conversations usually had short lives.
Watching all the people in the water once again, Addison felt herself starting to zone out. Riley would probably scold her for not being talkative when she had been approached by a guy, but she couldn't help it! Addy had become accustomed to blending in and not getting attention that when she got the attention of people, she didn't know what to do with it. She could just picture Riley's reaction if she told him about her beach encounter, but luckily, what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him!
After thinking of Riley for a moment, Addison sighed. She knew it would be good for her if she did say something. "I'm Addison, by the way." Short, sweet, it got the job done.

Nate smiled at the female laying on the beach she couldn't be not more than three years younger than him, four years top younger than him, he wanted to make a friendly approach. "Why thank you" Nate said politely to the female. He pulled out a towel, layed it down a bit away from the female, he then pulled out another towel and layed it down about three meters away from the first towel. He sat down on the first towel, he turned to look at the female next to him and took in her appearance. He did have to admit that she was definitely attractive, he pulled out a sketch pad and a pencil, he turned to look at the see and started to sketch a drawing of the female next to him from memory. Since it didn't really seem that the female really wanted any company.
If he knew her better or if he was back in Wales then he would be wasting no time in trying to get into her pants but now everything has changed as he is starting with a fresh start. Every so often Nate shifted his eyes to the side to have a better look of the female, he bit his lower lip not wanting to try anything with her when she doesn't really seem that interested in him and she just seems to be wanting to spend some time by her self so he didn't really bother to talk to her again unless she spoke to him first. Nate turned back to his sketch and focused on getting the structure of her face perfect before he moved onto her eyes, nose, mouth and ears then finally he will move onto the females hair. He just hoped that the female wouldn't mind him doing a sketch of her, if she did mind then he would just throw it in the bin as he is only drawing to pass the time.
Nate looked at the female when he heard her sighing "What is the matter with her" Nate thought to himself wondering why she had sighed and was it a good sigh or was it an annoying sigh to indicate she didn't want Nate to be sitting down next to him, he sat there and listening to her. "Hey Addison the name is Nate. I hope you don't mind but I was doing a drawing of your attractive appearance" Nate said showing her the drawing that he had done so far. "I hope you don't mind me asking but why is the most attractive female on this beach laying down on her own when personally I reckon you could have any male you wanted" Nate said flirting with her slightly as it was the truth she was the most attractive female on the beach.

Out of the corner of her eye, Addy watched the guy next to her take out a sketch pad and start to draw. From where she was sitting she couldn't see what he was drawing, but she assumed it was just the lake since that was the direction he was facing. "Where are you from? You don't sound like you're from around here." Addy said, having a delayed reaction to the accent she heard when he spoke. Lying back on her forearms and pulling her legs up to form a triangle above the ground, Addison took another glance at the guy next to her who she now knew to be Nate.
Addison blushed and laughed slightly when Nate told her that he was drawing her. "I don't mind, but I feel that you should be using a different word other than attractive. My best friend is the only one who has called me that other than my family. None of the people at school think that, hence why I'm sitting alone. Plus the fact that I'm pretty much considered mute when it comes to people other than Riley." She explained while staring at the kids hat she had gone to school with for years, yet had never made friends with. "Maybe in another life I would be able to have any guy I wanted, but not in this one. In this one I'm pretty much invisible." Addison explained, looking away when she felt her cheeks getting hot. She knew they'd be turning red with embarrassment.

When he was taking out his sketch pad and a pencil he noticed the female watching him so it was no wonder he decided to draw her. He drew the picture so that the female wouldn't be able to see what he was drawing as he hates people see him with an incomplete drawing he turned to look at the female "I am from a place in the UK called Cardiff what is the capital city of Wales, I take it that you are from her and lived her all of your life" Nate said as he raised an eye brow at the female as even though it seemed like she didn't want any company she did want to have a convocation so maybe she was just lonely. After a while Nate turned back to the drawing the girl next to him who he now knows is called Addison.
Nate let out a sigh as he stuck his sketching pad and pencil into his bag when he heard Addison laughing. He turned to look at her planning on having a convocation with her. "I don't reckon I should use another word as your attractiveness is as smoothing as the sun set" Nate said let a smile form on his lips to hide the fact that he hates watching the sun set. "That just means that you haven't met the right person, have you ever tried talking to someone that doesn't go to you school. I take it that Riley is your best friend then" Nate said as his eyes went wide as he realised that she never said the people in college but the people in school "Wait how old are you Addison as you look old enough to be in college" Nate said slightly worried that he may be flirting with someone that is under age. Nate turned his head to look at the kids that she was looking at "Maybe you just need some more confidence and experience, but you are doing fine with me and you don't even know me besides that my name is Nate, I wouldn't of thought you where invisible as you beat the other girls in looks" Nate said indicating the females that they where both watching who went to Addison's school.

Addy nodded to show that his assumption was correct. She had indeed lived in Pebble Cove all her life, and the furthest she had traveled was to the other states that made up New England. "Does it seem strange being here instead of in Wales?" Addison asked. If it were her she would find it very different and maybe a little hard to adjust to since school wasn't in session.
Addison blushed again when Nate compared her to a sunset. "Riley is my best friend, but since neither of us have access to a car, and I still haven't gotten my license, we are stuck in town dealing with the kids from my school. If I could get out of this town and go to another school I would." Addison explained. "Being seventeen sucks, I'm so ready for college, but unfortunately I still have one more year of high school." She said, ranting and answering Nate's question about he age. Addison knew that she was talking with Nate easily, but the fact that she didn't know him was what made it work. The people she went to school with knew her when she was an awkward little kid and whatever else she was, but Nate didn't. All he knew was what Addison let him see at the moment.

Nate smirked slightly when Addy nooded to show that he was correct about her lived in Pebble Cove her entire life. "Man I am good" Nate thought to himself. But it would be a bit obvious that she may of lived here her entire life as she noticed that his accent was a accent from living in Pebble Cove. "Not really as the weather here is much nicer than in Wales as it is mainly either really windy, raining or both of them so I guess it will be nice to have such lovely weather more often" Nate said with a slight shrug as it was the truth as he doesn't really remember a week that went by in Cardiff where it hadn't been really windy or raining. "The good thing I guess is the holidays are different" Nate said sighing slightly.
Nate shook his head slightly as he noticed Addison blushing again when he compared her to a sunset. "That must be nice to have, and harsh not owning a car, but if you or Riley did own a car then you wouldn't be on this beach talking to me. So in that way I am glad neither of you have a car" Nate said playfully. When Adisson had her rant over he let out a sigh of relief as she isn't underage to him since the age of concent in UK is sixteen but it may be different here so he would have to find out. "College isn't what it is meant to be as it is the same as school is and chances have it unless you go to a college abroad or far away then there will be people from your High School there. So I guess I am lucky in that sence as I am only friendly with two people who are you and my neighbour June Madison. Then that is lucky as I don't know anyone in the college yet as I have only recently moved here" Nate said as he let out a happy sigh. Nate leaned in so there faces where just apart"How about this I help you get some more confidence with bopys and what not and in return we could be friends if you like or are you afraid you will enjoy the confidence to much" Nate said flirting with her as he winked at her.

"I've always wanted to travel to the UK." Addison said after listening to what Nate had to say about Wales. "It just seems like such a cool place to visit!" Secretly, Addy loved the accents of the people from the UK, but in all honesty, what American girl didn't love a swoon-worthy accent. She remembered when she saw Harry Potter for the first time and that was the first time she had heard a British accent. "How are the holidays different? Is the timing different?" Addy didn't know much about other countries because of the lack of emphasis that the curriculum placed.
Addy smiled, "That's a good thing about not having a car, and also that it would probably just sit in the driveway at my house since everything is within walking distance." There was really no point in Addison having a car. If she had to go someplace, her parents would let her borrow their car. "I know that there will be people from my high school at the college that i decide to go to, but the chance that I have classes with them is slim to none." At the mention of June, Addy's face held a confused look. The name sounded familiar, but she couldn't place a face with it.
Adjusting her shirt slightly so that it wasn't riding up her tummy, Addy looked over at Nate and blushed when she realized how close he was. Well, she could always use more friends, but the way Nate decided to give his offer had Addison nervous slightly. "We could try that." Addy said softly as she tore her eyes away from Nate. Guys never really flirted with her, so she wasn't sure how to take Nate's flirting.

"I guess not everyone is the same then, but I reckon you will change your mind once you have visited there for the first time, most likely never to return" Nate said with a slight shrug. "That is right it is a cool place to visit but not in the sence you are thinking of as it is mostly freezing with a nice warm day every so often" Nate said as it was the truth some times it would go days upon days with non stop rain. "Oh the holidays are different because of the timing of them I suppose and that the Summer here is so lovely and warm" Nate said with a huge grin on his face as he fell back to let his body soak up the sun rays. "So if you did go to the UK what part would you go to and where would you stay" Nate asked curiously.
"That must suck then, but if you are a guy it is a good thing as you can cruise around looking for some female attention who would most likely get it because they have a car. Man I so hate them as they get on my nerves so much" Nate said as he let out a sigh as it was the truth even though he use to be a bit of a player people with cars would get the girls so much easier. "But atleast you stay fit and in shape as you could jog, run and you are burning more calories in walking than you are by driving" Nate said. "For all you know people you don't like in High School may have some of the same interest than you that you don't know about and chose some of the same lessons than you what may lead to them being put into your class" Nate said as it was partly the truth if there are people from the same High School doing some of the same classes they are more likely to be put in the same classes. Nate turned to look at Addison and raised an eye brow at Addison as she had an confused look on her face when he had mentioned June. "Do you know June, Addison?" Nate asked.
Nate watched as Addison adjusted her shirt slightly, Nate let out a disappointed face as he did enjoy the view of her stomach but maybe she just wasn't comfortable about people staring at it. Nate smiled at Addison when he noticed her blushing, Nate did have to admit that Addison is attractive but from what she has been saying to him it seems that she is usually shy around males except for her friend Riley. Nate did like making friends with new people as it gives him a chance of meeting different people and making out with people is just a bonus to Nate "If you want to stop at any time then just tell me and we will still remain friends if that is ok with you" he said as he turned her head to face him and he then leaned in to press his lips to hers wondering how far in kissing she will go.

Addison shrugged. Nate liked the change that Pebble Cove brought, so maybe Addy would enjoy the change the would come when and if she traveled to the UK. "If I went, I want to go to Ireland and England. I have family in Ireland so I would probably stay with them." Her mother always told her that their relatives would be happy to put her up if she ever visited and she planned to take them up on that offer since it would save money.
Addy just shrugged again as Nate talked about cars and the possibility of running into people she knew once she got to college. She really didn't mind not having a car, and if someone she knew were in her classes at college, then they might actually become friends. Most likely whoever she had class with would be either a freshmen or sophomore and because they'd be familiar with each other it would be comforting almost. When Nate asked if she knew June, Addy shook her head. "The name sounds familiar, but I can't place who she is." Addy told him softly.
When Nate told her to tell him if and when to stop, Addison was confused. Feeling his hand on her cheek, she allowed him to turn her face to face his and watched as he leaned in. Soon she felt his lips on hers and her eyes went wide. When Nate talked about helping her with confidence she hadn't expected him to do it in a way that involved kissing, he had just stolen her first kiss! Pulling away slightly, Addy looked at Nate with a confused expression. "Why did you do that?" She asked softly. There were all sorts of emotions running through her body, confusing her even more.

Nate smiled at Addison when she mentioned where she would fo to if she did end up going to UK but his smile turned into a frown when she mentioned the second place she wanted to go to "Ireland is a nice place to go to, there good drinkers well some of them are..." Nate said with a slight shrug as one of his 'best' friends is Irish and he had never beaten him in a drinking contest. "... if you did go to England I would never speak to you again as if I did I would be a traitor to my Country" Nate said with a huge grin on his face to show he was joking, even though his mother is anti English and tried to bring her three kids up as it none of them has become one yet.
"That is good to hear" Nate thought as he knows that girls like to talk about boys, so since Addison recognizes the name but not the face that belongs to it then the likelihood of them talking about him is slim to none. "So do you have any other friends besides Riley" Nate said wondering about it as so far from what Nate has gathered about Addison is that her best friend is Riley and that she is not friends with people in her school so is she friends with people out of school or not and that is the main question.
Nate looked at Addison when she had pulled away slightly from him with a confused look on her face. Maybe he should of asked her for her permission to kiss her as it may of been her first kiss what Nate should of asked about as she is shy around people apparently. "I don't know, I thought I was helping you get some confidence, I am sorry if I have offended you Addison" Nate said as even if he has offended her, she could of stopped him when he was leaning in to kiss her or told him to not kiss her as it is her first kiss what Nate would find hard to believe with someone who looks like her.

Addy nodded and smiled slightly at Nate’s comments on Ireland and England. “I guess that’s a chance I’ll have to take.” She said, referring to him not speaking to her if she went to England. That was a country that she really wanted to visit sometime in her life.
When Nate asked if she had any other friends besides Riley, Addison blushed and looked away. “Riley’s my only friend.” Usually when people asked about her friends and then heard the answer, they’d laugh. Addy had grown accustomed to it, but that didn’t make it hurt any less. She figured that Nate would be the same as the rest of the people she had met.
Addison didn’t know if Nate was being sincere or not when he said he was trying to help her. There were a bunch of different ways to help a person get confidence that didn’t include kissing, yet he chose that path. It seemed like a player type of move. When she first saw him leaning in, she thought he had something else to say and was just leaning in like he had the last time. “You didn’t offend me, but you did surprise me.” She said while thinking, and took my first kiss without asking.

"But it would be a bad mistake. Don't worry as I would talk to you after you visited England as I am not anti English like my mother wants me and my siblings to be" Nate said with a slight shrug as he would continue to speak to Addison if she let him in the future. "That is fair enough Addison, it is better to have one best friend who is a real friend instead of loads of close friends that are actually fake friends" Nate said as even though he was popular in his old school all except one person where his fake friends who where just using him then his only real friend was his neighbor. "You must be really close to Riley then" Nate said with a slight smile on his face.
"I am sorry about that Addison and I am sorry about it being a mistake as we have only just met each other and yet I kissed you with out your permission" Nate said as he moved back onto his towel. He pulled out his sketch pad and continued to draw the picture of Addison, he bit his lip after a while "Addison can we pretend like the kiss never happened please and we could just be friends" Nate said as he looked at Addison with his eyes after he stopped drawing to wait for her reply to his question.

Addison smiled when Nate said that he would still talk to her even if she went to England. It was nice to know, but she had known he was joking in the first place. Hearing it said allowed was a nice assurance though. “I think I’m part of the reason that I only have Riley though. I never really talk to anyone else so I’ve kind of isolated myself and when I’m not with Riley I usually am reading which probably makes me seem unapproachable.” The first step is admitting that you have a problem, and Addy knew she had a problem, but she didn’t know how to fix it because it had been her lifestyle for so long. “Riley and I are more like brother and sister than anything else. We’ve known each other since I can remember, so we pretty much know everything about each other.” She explained.
Addy nodded while staring out at the lake. She wanted to be friends with Nate, but she couldn’t just erase the kiss from her mind. She wouldn’t voice this though, she thought it better to act like it didn’t happen even though she would probably always remember the kiss. “I’d like it if we could remain friends.” Addison told Nate, glancing over to see him with his sketch pad out again.
