The summer heat beamed down on Jake, draining sweat from beneath his skin. People around him could all be heard groaning, clearly annoyed by the radiant sun. Wiping his forehead, Jake ducked into the nearby coffeeshop—good ol' Starbucks. The breeze of the air conditioner hit him immediately, bringing a wave to ecstasy toward him. In fact, he stood still for a brief moment, arms slightly spread, to enjoy this cool feeling. It was only after being in the heat that one could truly enjoy the delight of a cool air conditioned room. The staff and customers in the place paid no mind to his weird behavior, which led Jake to believe that he wasn't the only one to do so on this scorching day.
After feeling considerably cooled down, Jake headed over to the counter and ordered an iced cappuccino with a smile. He never really liked coffee due to its bitterness, but sweet, slightly creamy iced cappuccinos always held a special place in his heart, especially on days like this. Pulling out his wallet, Jake completed his transaction and headed to the end of the counter to wait for his drink. Finally, the cool, icy cup was passed his way and with a quick 'thank you', Jake grabbed it and headed to a table on the other end of the place.
Feeling the cold, slushy liquid pass through his mouth, Jake beamed in delight. "Now that hit the spot!" he exclaimed in glee, feeling the heat wash away. He then took some time glancing at the company available in the shop. It seemed like several people were here to take refuge from the sun and were engaged in their own conversations or business. Jake silently slurped on his drink, wondering what he would do today. He was so glad that he was on break and he couldn't even imagine taking a class in this weather. That was just too much. 'I wonder what everyone else is doing…' he thought.
